The purpose of NFIRS software is to generate incident reports for all departments in a firehouse. FireFiles exists specifically for the needs of fire investigation
departments. FireFiles brings together in an intuitive and easy-to-use manner everything in the investigation process that incident reporting (NFIRS) leaves out.
The result: More efficient fire investigation case management.
The NFIRS arson module is strictly for arson investigations. The NFIRS reports presuppose arson (titled “Arson Report” on many software programs), and you know that competent defense attorneys will look upon this unfavorably. We at FireFiles ask, “What if an investigation takes place and arson is not determined to be the cause?” FireFiles cases start as Undetermined/Under Investigation until evidence leads an investigator to change the status to Incendiary/Arson.
The result: FireFiles is open for all fire-related investigations, not just arson.
NFIRS software is available for installation throughout a fire station, leaving sensitive and highly confidential case information (social security #’s, juvenile
firesetters, etc.) accessible to anyone in the station. FireFiles is NOT distributed department-wide, only within the investigation department. Access is further
protected by unique logins for investigators and support staff. Only those investigators that are given login access can view the information in the database
and only the investigator that created the case can alter it.
The result: Highly secure case data.
FireFiles is a customizable product. We are willing to work with agencies to use FireFiles as a base to develop a software package specific to your agency’s needs.
The result: Flexible software solution for meeting a wide range of needs.
FireFiles and many NFIRS programs utilize a SQL Server Database and/or MSDE. These are standard database software solutions compatible with most office networks.
The result: Similar compatibility.
Portions of proceeds on FireFiles go directly to the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI). Albanese Consulting, the company that developed and supports FireFiles, has a very close relationship with IAAI. Our firm has provided technology consulting for IAAI’s core business tools (firearson.com and membership management database), and we will be assisting the IAAI with additional technology projects in the future, including investigation job banks and online training.
